About Us

Horizons Academy Bexley provides high quality education and support for 117 pupils in Key Stages 1-4, who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school.

 We also provide short-term placements in our Medical needs provision for pupils who have a current active CAMHS or paediatric consultant referral stating the pupil is not able to attend school ‘at this time’.

 We focus on early intervention, offering a range of services from Outreach support, short term placements (KS1-3) or  longer term placements for students in KS4.

 Our aim in KS1 – 3 is to re-integrate the learners back into a mainstream or specialist school via our ‘Reintegration programme’. We work closely with external agencies and our partner schools to identify the needs of the child and develop an understanding of their barriers to learning, so that over time we can identify the strategies that schools can take forward to help them to be successful in the future.

Our aim in Year 11 is to support our young people to successfully transition into Year 12. We do this by providing access to a variety of GCSE subjects, as well as vocational qualifications that provide a clear line of sight to the next steps of their educational journey.

On average (these figures fluctuate throughout the year);

  • Over 50% of pupils are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
  • 100% of pupils are K coded for SEMH
  • 5% of pupils are LAC
